There’s nothing quite like waking up to the views we have here in Mid Wales. But it’s a real frustration when you open the curtains only to find a wall of mist and condensation trapped inside your window.
At Red Kite Glass, we’ve been helping our neighbors in Newtown and Caersws for over 25 years, and this is easily one of the most common questions we get: “Is my window broken for good?”
If you’re worried about the cost and mess of replacing a whole window, we have some good news for you!
What’s Actually Happening?
Think of your double glazing like a sealed sandwich. There’s a special “spacer” between two layers of glass that keeps the warmth in and the noise out. Over time—especially with our unpredictable Welsh weather—that seal can get a bit tired and let a tiny bit of moisture in.
Once that happens, your window is “blown.” It looks a bit misty, and it isn’t quite as good at keeping the cold out as it used to be.
The Great News: Save Your Frames!
A lot of people think that a misty window means a massive bill for a brand-new uPVC frame. But dont worry, thats not always the case: If your frames are still in good shape, we can usually just replace the glass.
By swapping out the old “blown” unit for a fresh, high-performance one, you get:
- A Crystal Clear View: No more looking through the fog.
- Money in Your Pocket: It’s significantly cheaper than a full window replacement.
